GRAPES:
Barbera 90-95%, Freisa 5-10%. YIELD: 50 quintals/hectare.
IN THE VINEYARD:
High density planted vineyards (6000 – 8000 plants /hectare) located on the areas most exposed to the sun. Two different pruning are made during the year: the first one in July in order to equalize the bunches, the second one in August, aiming to achieve the maximum concentration and quality.
WINE MAKING AND AGING PROCESS:
Harvest in small cases with an accurate selection of the best grapes. Fermentation with native yeasts in cement tanks and oak vats. Many delestages and pumping over assure a rich extraction, giving great structure and complexity to this wine. It is fined in barrique and big barrel for about 24 months and 12 months in bottle.

This "Riserva" is dedicated to Princess Matilde Giustiniani who in the last century succeeded in bringing the castle of Gabiano back to its ancient magnificence, and to her love for those vineyards. From the historical estates vineyard, and only during the best years, we produce this "d.o.c." with great personality and intense scents, born to convey deep feelings. To be served at 18 – 20°C.
